Frequently Asked QuestionsMeeting Maker Microsoft Campus Agreements Where do I find information regarding Palm Syncing? Go directly to PeopleCube Web site: Palm Sync FAQs [page top]
How do I contact PeopleCube for Meeting Maker support issues? What does the Campus Agreement provide? The Campus Agreement gives the CSU the right to install and run the covered Microsoft software on all university-owned computers for the length of the contract. It also allows university employees to run the software on home computers under the Work At Home provision. [ page top] Can I install the Microsoft programs on my home computer? Under the Agreement's Work At Home (WAH) rights, university employees may install one copy of the covered programs on a home computer provided the employee is the primary user of that computer, and such copy must be used for work-related purposes. CD's for WAH installations are special CD's purchased from the LAR and not the same CD's used to install on CSU owned computers. Campuses may choose the methodology to distribute these CD's. [ page top] Can students install the Microsoft software on their compters at home? No. A student option is not included in the CSU Campus Agreement. Students that did not obtain and install software under the previous CSU Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (which ended 12/31/02) may obtain Office and Windows operating system upgrades under the new Microsoft Student Select Agreement. [ page top] Does the Microsoft software on my faculty computer of (12/31/02) need to be reinstalled under the new agreement? No. The license for that software is perpetual and therefore does not need to be reinstalled. [ page top] Is other Microsoft software such as FrontPage going to be available to both students and faculty or will we simply have to buy it as part of Office Professional? Do you know what the prices will be? Where do we order the software? FrontPage is licensed under the new Microsoft Campus Agreement for faculty and staff only. The software may be installed CSU computers and at home under the WAH program above. Students that obtained and installed FrontPage (and any of the other products available under the previous Microsoft Enterprise Agreement) before 12/31/02 own perpetual licenses for that version of FrontPage and may continue to use it. [ page top] Are campus computer labs included in the Campus Agreement? Yes, the labs are specifically included in the Agreement. "The Campus Agreement Program" gives you the rights, during the licensed period, to have your users run the software on PCs used exclusively by your users and on PCs that remain in your open access lab(s)." - Microsoft Campus Agreement overview Page [ page top] Who do I contact for more information? Contact Steve Garcia of Aztec Shops at 619-594-7522 for more information. [ page top] The student wants Office 2000, but I only see a license for Office XP, what do I order? You will always need to purchase a license for the current version of the Microsoft Product. The current version license will grant the Student Down-Grade rights, which will allow them to install Office 2000. [ page top] How many installations can the student make the Windows OS? The Windows Operating System will install on one computer an unlimited amount of times (if the PC were to crash, the student can reinstall the software). When the software is installed, the student will be required to register the product with Microsoft or the product will not install. The registration will take the Key Code of the CD-Rom and a Serial number from the computer and store them in a Microsoft Database, as long as these two numbers match, the CD-Rom will keep installing on that computer. [ page top] How many installations can the student make with the Office family? Office can be installed on two computers that belong to one student. Under the product use rights, the student can install Office on one desktop and one portable device (laptop). The student must own both devices. When the software is installed, the student will be required to register the product with Microsoft, or the product will not install. The registration will take the Key Code of the CD-Rom and a Serial number from the computer and store them in a Microsoft Database. As long as these two numbers match, the CD-Rom will keep installing on either of the two computers. [ page top] We had a rental program in place; can we still rent to students under the new contract? The new contract does not include any type of rental program. All current rental programs are not valid after 12/31/02. [ page top] Can we make a "burned" copy of the Student CD-Rom? The duplication of Student CD-Roms is strictly prohibited. [ page top] How many units can the student purchase? Students are eligible to purchase one copy of each Software product. A license is considered one copy for that student. [ page top] I don’t see FrontPage or Visual Studio .NET on the pricelist, can I still purchase them? FrontPage and Visual Studio .NET are not covered under this agreement, and therefore cannot be sold to students as of 12/31/02. If you have stock left over for these items, they can be sold to faculty or staff members within the CSU System. Faculty and Staff do not need licensing for FrontPage or Visual Studio .Net. [ page top] I am still getting requests for FrontPage and Visual Studio .Net. You can purchase these products as a full package product (FPP). The FPP includes one license and one CD-Rom. These can be ordered at anytime, in any quantity. [ page top] What price do I charge the students for the license and software? The assignment of price will be up to each individual store. The price list has your cost and the list price of the product. [ page top] When can I order, and what is the lead-time of the media? You can order as your stock runs low, as long as the 25-unit minimum is met per order. The typical lead-time varies on the quantities that are being requested, with an average lead-time of 14 days. We recommend placing your order at least 3 weeks prior to the start of a new semester/trimester. [ page top]
